First Steps
You're considering applying to Section Three, but you're a bit overwhelmed by the volume of information? If so, this guide might help you. Reading it is not a requirement. If you'd rather poke around the comms on your own to get the picture, feel more than free to do so. We're just trying to make the game as accessible as possible.
First of all, logically, it'd be a good idea to take a look at the game premise. Is this an environment you could imagine playing in?
If so, check out the game play post. It's long, but this is where you find what this game will be like to play in. Most relevant would be Game Time vs Real Time and pretty much all of the Game Style and Etiquette section, since they explain the biggest differences between Section Three and a lot of other RP comms. If you're still liking the idea of this comm after reading those parts, check out the rest of the gameplay post to get an idea of the details of playing at the comm.
When you're done, take a look at the OOC comm to get an idea of who is currently playing at Section Three. You can also take a look at the cast list to find out which characters are involved in the game at the moment.
The rules post is a less interesting, but still necessary read. If you're considering applying to the comm, you will have to have read it before you submit your application. We tried to keep it short, and to explain the reasons for every rule, so please do take the time to actually pay attention while you're reading.
In case you feel like checking out the affiliated comms and journals of Section Three, you can take a look at
section_three, our main comm that includes threads, posted chatlogs and fic written by players relating to the Section Three 'verse, and at
ms_mourne, a mod character you will get to know very well if you join. Feel free to read, backread and poke around. Also feel free to ping the mods or anyone affiliated with the comm at any time to find out more about it.
If you're still interested in playing at Section Three after reading all of this, now is the time to pick your character. If you already have one in mind, you can proceed directly to the application post. If you're not quite sure which character you want to play who would fit into the comm's environment, you can take a look at the comments of the request post. Maybe someone requested a specific permanent cast member you would be interested in playing. You're more than welcome to create a new character for this comm, so if a request is inspiring you to adopt a new pup, feel more than free to follow that urge.
Now, your next stop is definitely the application post. Section Three doesn't have reserves, but we have an application that happens in two stages. It's all explained in detail in the post.
After you've submitted your stage one application, all you have to do is wait. While you do so, feel free to check out the remaining posts at
section3mods--the cameo concept might be something worth familiarizing yourself with, as well as the details about our hiatus system and the idea of pup trading. The mods will contact you as soon as possible to talk to you about your application and work out how to integrate your character into the 'verse of Section Three.
Are you looking to apply as a cameo character rather than a permanent cast member? This guide might be able to help you figure out which parts of the comm information would be relevant to you.
First of all, as with all comms, it'd be a good idea to take a look at the game premise and the game play post. You should read most of it, although you can pay reduced attention to the parts talking about pup trading and the details of the weekly allowance, since as a cameo player, you are unlikely to do any pup trading and won't be given an allowance. (Unless previously agreed otherwise.)
The rules post is another necessary read. You will have to have read it before you submit your cameo application. You might also want to take a look at the comments of the request post, to find out whether maybe someone is requesting the character you're intending to play, and has ideas about the plots they would like to play with this character. Or maybe you're not sure yet which character to play a cameo with. The cameo requests could help you make up your mind.
If you're still interested in playing a cameo at Section Three after reading all of this, please go to the cameo application post and fill out the form provided there.
After you've submitted your application, all you can do is wait. While you do so, feel free to check out Section Three's affiliated comms and journals--
section3_ooc, the OOC comm and
ms_mourne, an important mod character. The mods will contact you shortly to talk to you about your application and to work out a plot arc the comm could play with your character.
We're hoping that we managed to make everything as transparent as possible, but if you've still got any questions at all, feel more than free to ping the mods at section3mods[at]gmail[dot]com or on AIM at teyla86.
