Hiatus and Drop

If you need to go on hiatus, or if you want to drop your character, you can, of course, do so at any time. Since game time is four times slower than real time, any hiatus up to a week should be possible to just handwave in the game--your character will simply be assumed to be around for two days, doing their usual thing. If you have any pressing plotlines going on, please talk to the other mun(s) involved about how you would like them to proceed with those in your absence, and be sure to let the comm know about anything your character should be assumed to be doing via the OOC comm.

If you have to be on hiatus for longer than a week, or if your character is too involved in a plot for them to be able to simply lie low for a couple of in-game days, you can send your character to attend a self-help seminar. This consists of them being stuck in the lecture hall where they had their introductory lecture and being forced to watch video material relating to the issue they are supposed to be working on. Meaning for the Master, it would be anti-violence videos. For the Doctor, it would be pro-violence videos. Etc. They will be provided with food and a place to sleep and wash up, but other than that, they will be watching self-help films.

You cannot take a hiatus for longer than two months. For your character's sake, mostly, since two months real time equal two weeks game time, and no-one can stand more than two weeks of self-help films.

If you're dropping, you can either let your character just disappear--this will result in everyone else being transported to the lecture hall to listen to a convoluted, nonsensical explanation as to how the universe shifted to make your character's emotional balance insignificant to the cosmic balance, which is why your character was let go--or you can play a plot to kill your character. No, death isn't possible in Section Three--except it is when you're dropping. Your character would get hurt, or sick, and would die rather than magically be kept alive. Which would give everyone else in the game a nasty jolt, but hey, that's the fun of role play.

Either way, to let us know your character will be disappearing for a while, or maybe even for good, please fill out the form below and copy and paste it into a comment to this post.

Name and player journal: What it says.

Character name and journal: Ditto.

Time frame for hiatus/character drop: Please provide us with a time frame for your hiatus, or with a date for when you're planning to stop playing at the comm. If you want to play your character out of the game by killing them off, please consider that playing in-game plots sometimes takes more time than expected, so please be flexible about your time frame.
